Another part of this class that is going to help me in my professional life is with my application design skills. Not only did I have to make the product diagrams, I also had to design the app screens and storyboard (see right). My product was a microchip that gets placed in a football helmet and tracks impact to the head in order to determine if head trauma is applicable. So for my storyboard, I decided to keep track of the players vitals, while also displaying different statistics for each hit. This is absolutely applicable to my future career because I hope to be a software developer and this is one of the main tasks a software developer has to do.

For my practicum, I took the class ENES210. This course is formally called "Entrepreneurial Opportunity Analysis and Decision-Making in 21st Century Technology Ventures" and it centers around the process of creating a technological product and putting it to market. I had many people tell me this was a good class especially for me being a computer science major and being able to learn about the lifecycle of real life technology applications. I encourage anyone media scholars looking for a practicum to take this class, as it is very insightful especially for STEM students. Throughout the course of this class, I learned a lot about business and technology. I learned about how to find mentors, how to set a product budget, what target markets to search for and how to identify potential customers, what resources I would need to start a company, and how to sell my product altogether. My major contribution to my group was creating the product diagrams (see left), which is probably the most important thing I learned seeing how it is closely related to what I want to do as a career.
